The Orchard School

Achieve - Belong - Thrive

At The Orchard School, we are a nurturing and ambitious community where every child is inspired to achieve, supported to belong, and encouraged to thrive. Our core values of Courage, Determination, Respect and Kindness shape all that we do, ensuring every child feels safe, valued and ready to grow.

We believe the early years of education are a vital springboard to future success, offering a carefully balanced environment that fosters independence and a love of learning. Our curriculum recognises each child’s individuality, providing adaptive and accessible learning that builds confidence, resilience and strong foundations in knowledge and skills.

Children flourish beyond the classroom through rich experiences such as Values Awards, School Council and classroom roles, extra-curricular clubs, educational visits, performance opportunities, Picture News assemblies and the “Great Eight Before I’m Eight,” which develop curiosity, empathy and cultural awareness.

Working closely with families, we ensure that every child—whatever their starting point—makes strong progress, feels a deep sense of belonging, and is empowered to take their next steps with confidence.

ACHIEVE • BELONG • THRIVE

ACHIEVE

BELONG

THRIVE

We inspire every child to build a strong foundation for future learning and to develop the confidence to say 'I can do that’. Every child is welcomed, included and valued as part of our nurturing school community. Our children are encouraged to show courage and determination as they explore, learn and grow.
Our curriculum is carefully structured so that children build the key knowledge, skills and vocabulary they need in every subject.  We promote respect, kindness and develop strong, positive relationships. We nurture curiosity, resilience and increased independence, so that children thrive as they move to their next stage of education.
Our high-quality teaching in Early-Years and Key Stage 1 balance care with challenge to help children become motivated, independent learners. Children and staff are safe, happy, healthy and contribute positively to school life. We identify pupils needs early, ensuring the right support is put in place, making thoughtful adaptions where needed so that every child can access rich learning and wider experiences
Through careful tracking, we ensure continued progress and learning for all children, no matter their starting points. Children know they have a voice and are listened to. By learning about their rights, our school values and British values, they become confident, thoughtful and responsible members of our school community and the wider world. Children have a wide range of opportunities and experiences that allow them to try new things, make lasting memories and develop important skills throughout their time here.
Leaders at all levels model high expectations and are committed to inspiring success. We work in partnership with families and, when needed, with external professionals to strengthen every child’s well‑being and learning journey. Every child is supported to flourish personally, socially and academically through our curriculum and wider opportunities.
